Vuoto a restare

Vuoto a restare project is based on three key words: glass, food and ritual.

These three elements interweave and support each other.
Glass is the matter they are made of: it doesn’t alter food characteristics, and, in its turn, it is connected to rituals to which we are inconsciously used. The union of these three elements gives birth to the final project: a series of tools able to lead to a revisitation of the way we eat.

If these utensils force us to reconsider the way
we connect with food, then what happens?

We have to consider the interaction between tool, human body and food.
That is forks, spoons, knives’ usefulness is destabilized in order to give birth to a totally new ritual, changing the purpose of a material already known on our tables.
The project Vuoto a restare is opposed to returnable and one-way packaging. It represents the name of a class of glass objects involved in the eating process and aimed to last in time without being returned or becoming useless. It is intended to raise awareness on the materials we use to approach our food and to find the ones which don’t alter food qualities.
Choosing glass to make objects used for food consumption is profoundly connected with the growing debate about disposable plastic.
